The company is also introducing an “Upload from Drive” feature to Google Photos. They just won’t sync between each respective service anymore. So, the images you have up now will not be deleted. If you’re on a computer, you can continue to “use Backup and Sync on Windows or macOS to upload to both services in High Quality or Original Quality.”
